Our Clients In North Carolina Wait This Long For Their Homes To Be Painted
It’s great to know how long something takes so you can prepare for it. This is especially true for projects that interrupt your home life.
In this post, you can find out how long it can take to paint a room, a house interior, a house exterior, and kitchen cabinets. You can also discover what mainly changes the timeline.
How Long Must We Wait?
“Not as long as other people,” says Ashley.
Daniel looks at her, eyebrow raised. “What do you mean?” Ashley smiles. “I mean some people hire painting contractors who take forever to finish a project. The one we’re looking at doesn’t.”
“How do you know?” asks Daniel. “Because I took a look through the blog on his website and one of the posts was about this question,” answers Ashley. “That’s also how I found out how much it costs to paint interiors and exteriors.
“Show me,” says Daniel. Ashley nods and hands him her phone. “Here’s the blog. I’d also check out the post on the cost to paint a house exterior and interior,” she suggests.
Here’s what Daniel sees:
How Long It Takes To Paint The Outside Of A House
It can take about one week to paint the outside of a house. The timeline mainly changes due to size, weather, damages, height, landscaping, and if there are any fences.
The question we often get with this is how often to paint a house exterior.
What Mainly Changes How Long It Takes To Paint The Outside Of A House
Size. Larger homes take more time because there’s more to paint. We can add more teams to larger exteriors to cut down the amount of time it takes to paint.
Weather. It’s impossible to paint when it’s raining or snowing. We can sometimes paint before it rains depending on the paint we use and how long it’s going to be before it rains.
Damages. We’ll tell you if we see any damages before or during the project. Most people choose to fix them before painting. Leaving damages will let them get worse and more costly to fix. Water damage and wood rot are the damages we see the most often.
Height. Taller homes take more time to paint because they’re larger. We need to bring in ladders to reach those higher places too. This lengthens the timeline because we need to paint what we can reach then move the ladder.
Landscaping. We either have to work around it or cover it up. We cover and uncover when painting so we can do our best to not harm your plants.
How Long It Takes To Paint The Interior Of A House
It can take anywhere from 5 days to 2 weeks to paint the interior of a house. The average time it takes is between 5 and 10 days. It mostly depends on size, the scope of work, window count, custom paint, wall height, house detail, wall condition, and damages.
We also get asked how much it costs to paint an interior.
What Mostly Changes How Long It Takes To Paint The Interior Of A House
Size. Larger homes take more time because there’s more to paint. We can add more teams to larger interiors to cut down the amount of time it takes to paint.
Scope of work. One room doesn’t take nearly as long as the entire interior. The more you have us paint the longer it’ll take to finish.
Window count. Preparation can take a bit longer with more windows. We want to protect them so the paint doesn’t get on them. More windows also mean less to paint, which can lessen the timeline a bit.
Custom paint. We have to get someone to make the custom paint or color, which lengthens the timeline.
Wall height. Higher walls mean more to paint, which takes more time. If you have a two-story foyer we’ll need ladders to reach. Ladders lengthen the timeline because we have to re-adjust after we paint as much as we can reach.
House details. Ornate trim takes more to paint because it requires more detail work. We don’t want to just slap some paint on there and risk missing spots.
Damages. We’ll tell you if we see any damages before or during the project. Most people choose to fix them before painting. Leaving damages will let them get worse and more costly to fix. The most common damages we run across are water damage and small nicks and holes.
How Long It Takes To Paint A Room
It can take less than a day to just paint the walls of a room. Painting the walls, ceiling, and trim takes about 1 to 2 days. Some rooms can take up to a week to paint. The main factors that can change this are size, custom paint, window count, custom shapes, and which room it is.
We put more labor into heavily trafficked rooms, like kitchens, so you can get your room back faster.
